Re: i have an idea...

May. 24th, 2006 04:52 pm (UTC)
So does this mean you secretly fantasize about living in Utica?
(heehee) I know what you do with it, YOU EXHIBIT IT AT AWESOME GALLERIES!!!!!!!!

love it, love you!
May. 24th, 2006 05:16 pm (UTC)
you're the 2nd person who's mentioned utica..

so, miss kimmy, who's it gonna be tonight?
taylor or kat?
personally, i think kat's a better singer, BUT, she's a bit full of herself.
and, um, k....her dad has issues????
so, i'm goin' with the happy dancer boy.

and i love you 2!!!!
May. 25th, 2006 04:59 am (UTC)
ok... i can't get past the way taylor looks like greg, so i'm not too keen on him because of that, but he does make a great parody character for snl... kat on the other hand... well... she has a great voice, but she's too up and down for me... love her, don't love her, love her, don't love her... you know? and yah, her dad seems a bit icky!!!!!!!!

i taped the last 30 minutes of the show so i guess i'll know soon, but i bet 'soul patrol boy' wins it. frankly, i wanted mandica. once she was booted, i really didn't care or have a fave. they all get on my nerves sooner or later!

but you know what reallllly gets on my nerves? the fricken heat and humidity of this stinking state that i for some reason am living in! the car thermometer registered 94 today and it's still only May.

hell on earth = st. looser

May. 25th, 2006 06:44 am (UTC)
Re: cat-taylor
ooooooo...ditto on the mandissa! she sang her guts out tonight!!!!!

stink louis....the only thing i miss about it is you and robin.
so, when ya gonna move to THiS coast girlie??????????

Re: cat-taylor
as soon as i can find 6-8 dance studios in need of a tap teacher in the portland area!

i do dream of being closer to you!! popping down to visit on the weekends, going to art openings with you...

you know, every summer, i sweat and stink and stick to the furniture and i dream of the portland no-humidity summers i could be living...
i mean, i can't stay here forever, right?!
May. 25th, 2006 04:54 pm (UTC)
Re: cat-taylor
or here's an idear..you could take out a monster loan and start TAPSALOT studios INC.!!!!!!!!! why not join the rest of america and put it on the card baby? HAHAHAHA.

seriously, though. i can see it. you doing the whole mary tyler moore throwing your tap shoes in the air in the middle of a busy pdx intersection. it could happen.

plus, your papasan would look so nice in your studio office!!!

-dream patrol, at your service.

May. 26th, 2006 07:17 am (UTC)
Re: cat-taylor
my dream is to be able to build my own in-home studio, not to have to incorporate, and have lots and lots of private lessons. i'll keep the papasan in the "A-Frame" so i can watch buffy on those nice rainy nights in the pnw, but i'll buy a hip new disc chair (either purple or bright pink) for the studio office. that was a good idear, my friend!

but i honestly can say i do not want to run a business. ick. the whole business end of life gives me the heebie-jeebies. having to turn a profit in order to stay afloat... dealing with psycho parents... recitals... advertising... *shudder*

nope. it needs to be done my way, or not at all. I mean... i like working at other peoples' studios!

but if i won the big lottery... well now! that's a whole 'nother kettle of tofu-fish-sticks!

(i like the idea of naming the place Tapsalot. Just tapsalot. no inc, or
"studio" or anything. if you know about it, you know about it. if not, well, you probably don't need to know about it. why... i'll even hold open meditation times and a yoga-esque stretching and relaxation class! fun fun fun!!!!!!! and i'll have tap jams a couple times a year... by the way, happy national tap dance day 5/25!!)

May. 26th, 2006 04:07 pm (UTC)
Re: cat-taylor
well, that sounds positively dreamy!!!
i'm sure portland has its share of tappy, yoga, meditative types...you'll have no problem. in fact, you'll prolly have to replace your door often, cuz they'll be knocking it down. unless you get those bead thingys, in which case you'll be hearing a lot of rattling.

and ditto on the business side being creepy. i'd much rather have someone else worrying about the books..

and isn't EVERY day tap dance day?????? ;D
nice they nationalized it, though..
May. 25th, 2006 04:54 am (UTC)
that's absolutely awesome.
May. 25th, 2006 06:45 am (UTC)
oh wowie!!!! thank you!!!!
nice to hear from you..
May. 26th, 2006 04:46 am (UTC)
Cool book! Yes, you should probably carry it around as a beefy business card. That would be hilarious.

You can pull it out, saying "here's my card", and then when they ask, "really?" respond with, "yes, what it's not businessy enough for you? Screw you, I'm taking it back!" then take it back.
May. 26th, 2006 04:09 pm (UTC)
yah, i could even try to cram it into one of those boxes at the olive garden for a free lunch???
May. 26th, 2006 04:25 pm (UTC)
Ha, That would be great!
At the least you can submit a complaint to olive garden saying that you, and people like you, utilize jumbo business cards, and that their facilities are prejudiced against accomodating them. Maybe they'll add extra huge boxes.
May. 26th, 2006 04:48 pm (UTC)
are you SURE you're not a lawyer?
oh, in addition to photographer/actor/author?

you have a point, i COULD take legal action.
call the press.
organize boycotts...you name it.
not sure what my cause would be, but maybe i could score some extra olives outta the deal??

yes...sadly, it's all about the free food with me..
May. 27th, 2006 04:35 am (UTC)
No no, I never mentioned legal action. I would never suggest that -- I don't like lawyers one bit. I should have specified: Letter of complaint. I'm a big enthusiast of sending weird letters to companies. I do it fairly regularly. And if you act serious enough and don't make it too obvious that it's all part of a big joke, then they'll usually respond. You'd be surprised. You'd think that with all the old folks sitting in their old folks homes writing complaint letters, that companies would just crumble yours up and chuck it. But that's not the case. And vice presidents of marketing or whatever can get bored with the routine, and so they'll take the time to respond. And that's a wonderful thing. And yes, there's a great chance that they'll give you some extra olives out of the deal.
May. 27th, 2006 04:27 pm (UTC)
those letters would make an interesting art installation..
(forgive me, i have a one track mind)
or at the very least, inspire someone to write a movie treatment.
imagine a relationship budding from such correspondence?

what a great visual you provided me....i'm seeing a lonely marketing exec. surrounded by expensive desk accessories....no framed family pictures.....just her sitting quietly, face lit by a computer monitor glow, writing a response to a stranger, hoping, waiting, yearning..

great....now i can't get meg ryan out of my head. :p
