friend or foe?

i'm always slightly amused when i notice someone's dropped me from their Lj 'friends list'...i mean really, what is this...junior high? i'll admit i haven't the time or the patience to take in everybody's blog everyday. in fact, i breeze right past some (especially the wordy or blatantly, over the top self-indulgent ones), and i'm sure i'm not alone in this. we have our own lives, our own agendas, and life is just too damn short to be stuck in front of a 'puter 24/7.

and maybe my issue is with the term 'friend.' no matter how bad my brain hurts to read or even scroll past certain blogs, i can't bring myself to purge or delete massive amounts of blogs on my list...why? because they have that 'pull at your heart strings' word attached to it. if this was my 'blog roll' list or something more non emotive, like 'froggin bloggin schtoggin' list, i might not give it a second thought.

really, what it all comes down to is....i just wanna play nice with the other kids and do my best not to get pantsed.

and i add people almost automatically that 'friend' me, too. i'm THAT nice. yes, i even friended a psychopath who had a freakish obsession with guns!!!!...it doesn't mean i'll immerse myself in their lives, it's just a gesture. it takes time to foster a true relationship, especially online.

and kiddo, for the record? you're one of the few i consider a 'real friend,' as opposed to a 'yeah, i'll add you, but i just don't think we'd ever be friends in the real world' category. you, on the other hand, have an impeccable sense about you and a sharper than ginsu wit...your take on the world is truly unique, and for that reason i enjoy ALL your offerings. plus, you're just such a cool gal..and a great artist.

and f'yask me, i think tyler had the hots for ya.

thank you :) you made my day

I was so excited when you joined the LJ world... I had been going to your website since I was a senior in high school...and reading the old school journal you had. I had been collaging and keeping the things I found on the ground for as long as I can remember... when I found your website it was the first time I looked at what I was doing and thought of it as art... my parents had called my creations trash for so long I had begun to believe them... so thanks... you were the first to show me the mixed-media light.
