book 'em dano

well, i spent all day yesterday in downtown los angeles, waiting for possible jury duty. it's hard not to feel cattle like, being herded from one waiting room to the next, but, if nothing else it was a great opportunity to walk around the city on my breaks and do some people watching...not to mention catching up on my reading. it's surprising how much you can accomplish being forced to sit in a room for 6 or more hours.

waited all day and never got picked for a case, so once again, i skated by until the next time..

...strange question - did they let you read in the courtroom?

i had to go to court not that long ago (long story) and there was more than one sign that said "no food, no drink, so cell phones, no reading, no talking loudly" and i was a bit... confused by it. oh, i can TALK in yoru courtroom, your honor, but heaven forbid i should quietly occupy myself with a book!

oooooh, you were in the all important 'courtroom,' while i was just in waiting rooms and hallways. you can eat, drink, fart, read, surf the internet, sleep - whatever the hell you want in these areas. (i suppose they'd draw the line at copulating..maybe)

hey, i meant to apologize for not getting back to you...i hope your video problems were solved?!

glad they let you off the hook since you have so much going on right now! i was called for it once, but when i listed my eight employers and mentioned how difficult it is to find tap dancing jugglers to sub my classes, they excused me. Phew!!!!

yaze for good excuses...
i had NONE, zilch, ZEEEEERO...

but, honest to goddess...i felt for those who HAD excuses...they had to care for their ailing parents, children, etc. i even witnessed a guy who came up and wondered whether his court marshall from umpteen years ago would affect his ability to serve....he WAAAAAAANTED to serve, and i talked with him later...he was santa...i swear.... man oh man.... i gots me a whole new perspective. god damn, people are good...for the most part.
