the proverbial glaze washed over pretty quickly last night, what with all the goings on and such....but, i hope to post a massive amount of visuals to document both the surviving:kinkade opening and our miscellaneous galavanting afterward. luckily, thanks to chuck and kimberly, i have 3 separate camera's worth of photos to sift through and share.
i must say, the exhibit is quite engaging...both a feast for the eyes and the mind (i'm one lucky duck to be in such great company) the show is cohesive, in that we all share disdain for a man who's made a mockery of our livelihood by mass producing thoughtless, cookie cutter creations of crap while simultaneously insulting an art viewing public by marketing his work with nothing more than a stamp of jesus' approval.
dear mr. kinkade,
at least in my little corner of the world, you appear to have been successfully and utterly dethroned, stripped of your worthy status in the artworld, and revealed as nothing more than a machine that feeds intolerance, greed, ignorance and complacency ...thanks to the vision of one brilliant curator, a jilted ex-kinkade dealer, and a few fed up artists.
amen.
