groovy baby..

i'm gradually working myself back into a groove in the studio again, after a few weeks away. i was in such a frenzy prepping for my current show at chambers, right up until the very last moment and the matte medium barely had time to cure, that i self imposed a break, of sorts. but, too much time away from work can throw me into a major funk, much like the feeling i get when i don't have the time or energy for my 'junk walks.' but, i've come down off that cloud of glory after years of not being recognized as an artist the way i felt i deserved (kicking and screaming, mind you) and am ready and willing to dive back into the task at hand.

baby smith
'heap no. 100' (fat of the land series)
found objects on altered book cover

never mind the fact that the studio thermometer reads a brisk 52º. hell, i used to worry about my sink pipes freezing back in my belleville, illinois days. i'd be a spoiled brat for whining under my current conditions..

Eeek. Lj ate part of my commet.
Let me try this again.

Maybe you've been looking in the wrong places.
I know of a few that would just eat you up, you (the artist)
and your delicious artwork. You're massively talented.

(Yes, that's compliment heavy, but I'm SERIOUS.)

well, yes, you've got THAT right...i HAVE been looking in all the wrong places, at least where i live. and for some reason L.A. is just a tough nut to crack for me...not to say there isn't a right fit out there. it's just taking me forever to find it, and i'm left wondering why it was SO damn easy to find exactly where i needed to be in portland only after visiting it a couple of times. :/

i guess the best things in life aren't that easily attained, so i'm not that worried....yet.

thanks for your encouragement, though. ;D

Can you and yours possibly move to Portland?
Sounds like it would be a great art community for you
from your posts and this.

Anytime. :]

Wow!! This is my new favorite. Love the green as grass grows lying. BTW I enjoyed hearing your interview. It went very well and gave me new insight to your work and your process. It must feel nice to be back in the studio working. Can not wait to see more!!
