feelin' blue

i dunno what it is, but i can't get enough turquoise and sage lately..go on, have a look.
i wouldn't be caught dead wearing these colors, but they sure do make me feel awfully good in the mood department. i saw a coffee shop in pasadena last week that coupled pea green with chocolate brown paint on the walls. you know..it WORKED! i wouldn't have thought peas and chocolate would go together. yum.

i recently spied some grotesque piece of jewelry that had torquoise and deep violet together - and it was the only part of the piece that worked.

i think, aside from the decades-long affair with avacado colored appliances and the Attack of the Dark Teal Everything in the early 90s, that weird shades of green haven't been properly explored.

OH! you aren't kidding about the proliferation of teal in the 90's. my first wedding was a SEA of teal. you don't know how many times i wished i could've had a 'do over.'

and greens are SO tricky. weirdly enough, i have a friend who's color blind (can't see green) yet he paints the most sublime greens i've ever seen..

oddly enough i have one treasured item from that time, and in that lovely deep teal hue: my teal plastic swingline stapler from my first office job.

my mom and i had closets full of teal suede items, teal knit tank dresses, teal blazers with huge shoulder pads and rolled sleeves . . .

oy, i really hope that stuff doesn't come back. i'm not real happy with the current spring trends in fashion, but at least they aren't brining out the knickers and the teal.

i cannot imagine not seeing green. i am forever vexed that computers can't do green for their little digital lives. though it makes a bit of sense, i've known colorblind people to find all sorts of amazing hues. i think maybe it is because grey is a color that allows for so much imagination.

A lot of 70s color is starting to look good to me, and I never ever thought it would.

Re: pammy
oh yeah..the super groovy chick of ALL time in da house!
i 'member you used to sew a lot of your hippy chick shirts back then..you were a total sex pot! and the HAIR! my gawd, you had the most kinky, beautiful seventylicious locks. do you watch the 70's show? we have a friend that works behind the scenes there..and chuck subbed for him once, too. i would totally LOVE to go see a taping of that show MEEEYAN.

i swear, i HATED everything 70's at one time in my life (probably because i was a pitifully geeky child and didn't want to be reminded of such uncoolness in my life) but, lately i've been addicted to all things groovy. see, right now i can't imagine balloon pants and grunge bands EVER coming back..but, give it time. oh yes, give it time..

yay, good art :)
Hey, great site! I especially like the found object project. I like turquoise and sage. And pea green and chocolate brown. And Neopolitan pink-brown-white, even though I used to not be able to stand pink in the slightest.

Re: yay, good art :)
i can feel myself getting sucked into this new urbany outfitters mod-sheik-hip-color fad, too. it's scary, cuz i used to be such a beige chick. soooo afraid of color, now i'm like a kid in a candy store. OH, and speaking of pink..i'm the SAME way. hated all things pink, but it's all relative. you put pink with other colors and voila-INSTANT deliciousness. my fav is a bubble gum pink with chocolate brown. (notice the food theme here?)

psychedelic, 'laugh inny' colors.
the decades sorta blur together for me, i guess. all i know is i've seen it before..
