thanks to my friend, randel plowman, i finally rented and watched the movie he suggested months ago: 'the gleaners and i.' it's a completely charming documentary - one i highly recommend to everyone, especially those who recognize and appreciate the beauty and worth in ALL things.

i just moved it to the top of my queue!
and don't forget to catch the follow up movie on the disc (the gleaners and i part 2) i almost overlooked it. it was made 2 years after the first with updates on most of the people in the film.
So, just when I think I know almost every artist's work who ever lived. . . you throw me a new (old) one. Coolio. For some reason, the artwork you posted reminds me a lot of WIlliam Lobdell's work here in St. Louis--I dunno if you ever saw his work before you ran away to L.A. His building pieces are really cool http://www.williamlobdellartsite.com/My_Homepage_Files/Page4.html, but you can look at the other stuff, too. Difficult to photograph in that you can't begin to tell from the image that all of the components of each piece are comprised of found items/detritus, soda can pull tabs, washers, etc...

really like lobdell's work....never heard of him, sorry to say. wish i could've seen his constructions up close (when i lived 'back east' as chuck always says)....they're positively dream like! he must have quite the cult following...
and you've been spoiling me rotten with all your super-fab postally goodness! i love you 2!!!!
I cannot begin to describe the smile on my face when I receive mail from u.
your 'eastern' girlpal, RH
