mother's fury



there's a luminous, orangey hue blanketing much of southern california today. the above photo suggests a golden hour dusk, but it was taken only moments ago, around 12:45 pm.

my heart goes out to all those who are suffering right now.

i've been thinking about what i might throw in a car at a moment's notice should the wind shift, a spark fly, or a match strike. it may sound odd, but my art would be the last on the list. our dog, turtles, photos and important documents would be the first. and not to discount the loss and insurmountable pain these victims are going through, but i could almost imagine myself being at peace with the sight of all my worldly possessions going up in smoke.

erase the slate. like one big do-over.

after all, we don't take this stuff with us when we die....
