dream no. 6,006,258

had the most palpable dream last night.....

i decided to go visit a museum that was exhibiting a video installation of mine. this is a piece i actually made about 8 years ago, where i video taped myself sleeping for approximately 30 minutes. i encased it in a coffin like box with a hole cut out where my sleeping head peeked through.

but, in the dream i walked in the room and the video was projected onto a wall. and the video i submitted, it turns out, was not the finished cut. rather, it was the raw copy, showing bits of footage that i never intended to reveal.

but, i liked it.

i stayed in the back of the room, looking at this unfold before me. i watched the video, and grimaced at first, but then noticed the room full of onlookers glued to the screen.

and then, out of the blue......one of the gallery goers walked up to me and said he enjoyed my work and congratulated me. it was david hockney?!!! i thought to myself, was that REALLY david hockney, or just a look alike???

i knew it was a dream, but i wanted to stay there. it was like i was suspended in this state of ecstasy, almost like a wet dream, wanting to view this unintentional/organic artwork while simultaneously feeding upon the attention it garnered.

I was hoping Demi Moore would show up ; )

I love having dreams that make me feel that way, especially something so far from anything that you ever think about.

It's a premonition....perhaps you should do the project again, but like how you dreamed it.

I'd pony up good money to see that.

Dang, I remember that piece! I was just describing your early video & sound pieces to our intern. Poor you, having to lug all that equipment downtown--you went to so much trouble, and it was so worth it 'cause all of those pieces were really cool and launched you into new arenas, for sure. I like the dream & maybe it's a step in a new direction?
Missing you much, you lovely girl.

Re: vijjeoh
sooooooo weird.....how dreams catapult me sometimes. i remember waking up with the 'people purse on project,' idear a few years back......maybe this IS the next step. at least a side step. i need to think of it in terms of media collage.....rather than just a video installation diversion, perhaps?

baby steps!

on a side note. i totally demolished that 'coffin' piece years ago, but will be hacking it to bits and making another piece out of it. the ultimate recycler, i am!!!! or cheapskate, i can't figure out which!!!!

just sent in my grape arts donation today....what a Guh-REAT cause. you guys rock my casbah!!!!!
