i grant thee....

i've been a little nuts lately.....weeeeeell, MORE than usual, i s'pose.

got jury duty summoned awhile back and this is my 'week on call,' as it were.....where you phone up every night to see if you have to come down the next day and potentially serve on a jury.

every other year, without fail, california snags me.

it's not that i don't have a patriotic bone in my body....i really do. but, i'd have much BiGGER patriotic bones if they'd just pay a decent rate and let me choose where i might serve. hell, i'd even consider doing it full time. (yes, i crave power, enjoy sitting in a box, and get a slight buzz walking through metal detectors)

meanwhile, i'm spending the days i don't have to go in, writing for a grant. i have carol es to thank for motivating and downright inspiring me to try in the first place. this girl is a pro at grant writing, not to mention winning them, so i'm damn lucky to have her in my corner. i swear, half the battle is organizing your thoughts, expressing your philosophy and mission in a clear way, and determining your ultimate wants and needs. it's much harder than it sounds - a very exhausting process, but cathartic, all the same. it's kinda like going to therapy, only you don't have to pay anyone and cry in public.

so, even if i don't get the grant, i'll feel as though i've already won.....
