That is so funny, I almost made a lj entry with the exact same thing!

"I'll give you a titch in your joint ..."

Becky, I'm upset. I made the mistake of posting a political comment of Chuck's as a post, to prompt a stimulating discussion. The problem is that it became too stimulating. The fault is ultimately mine, for not thinking it through. The long-story-short of it is that one of my other LJ friends was mean to Chuck and Chuck unfriended me. I am currently reminding my other friend that I expect courtesy and civility in my journal, regardless of political views. But I am upset that Chuck has unfriended me, because I like and respect him and you very much. I am deeply saddened that this has occurred, and I am writing you to ask your help. Please talk about this with Chuck. I am afraid he won't bring it up to you. I love you guys.

I have reminded Daniel (my other friend) that this apepars on my main public entry:

Addendum: I will not tolerate rudeness or meanness between my readers, who come here for intelligent discussion. All views are welcome, but discourtesy is not.

And I have told him:

"You have placed me in a very sad position, but if you cannot apologise to Chuck, then I will unfriend you. This is not about partisan politics, but decency toward other human beings."

Chuck needs to know this, but he's not answering my comments.

Chuck is very special to me. Our meeting in person was so great that I think it was the best "first conversation" I've ever had with anyone. I respect and wish to honor our acquaintance. I just posted a general courtesy reminder to everyone in my journal. I will not have anyone abusing anyone in my journal!

although i can't speak for him, i'm sure he'll reconsider coming back....and we so loved meeting you robert. i remember chuck saying he didn't expect to like you in person, but he actually DiD. HAHAHA

i think people who ganged up on him would NEVER do so had they met chuck in person. (where is this post, btw, i couldn't find it?) he really IS the nicest guy around. take it from me, an artsy fartsy democrat. although we don't agree on a lot of issues, he's always civil and at least LiSTENS to my viewpoints.....actually, i'm usually the one to get worked up first!

anyway, i hope you guys can iron things out....Lj can be so dramatic sometimes! and we all make mistakes....but, like you said to chuck, you used to be closed off to those with differing opinions-now you've matured. it doesn't mean we all have to agree, but we should remember that we're all human and not just a bunch of faceless robots plunking away at our computers...

It's all in my politics filter. I don't believe you're in that.

In response to my general courtesy post, Dan said he was sorry for his rudeness. I hope Chuck sees that.
