it's weird, i never really appreciated disco at the time, but now have a real taste for it.

Haha! We did show off a little bit, too.

THough my real time to get down was during Staying Alive, with my mom, sister and best friend all dancing too. It's my theme song. My mom has a tape of me singing along with her 8-tracks when I was about 1 year old. Too funny. :)

I was thinking about the whole concept of the hipster this morning, and I think being really into disco and motown and 70s music in a non-ironic way is the next wave of hipster chic. Combine that with a classic post war sensibility, and there's the new 'hipster'. I started my way down that path yesterday when I ordered my glasses....I'll have to see if I can find a picture of them online.

listen to you ;D !!!! miss finger on the pulse of all things trendy and cool...i'd love to see a pic of your new specs, btw.

actually, i think there's very little in this world that's original when you think about it..
art, fashion, music, architecture...it can usually be traced to SOMEthing or SOMEone else, who was also influenced by something or someone else and so on until the dawn of woman.
if you can remaster, put a spin on or add to another trend, convince masses of hungry consumers it's the 'next best thing,' you got yourself a cash cow baby!

my prediction.. the fedora will make a huge come back. the twist being, it'll be worn by BOTH men and women. (and don't forget the baby gap set!) and the big band sound is due for a resurgence, too...like in a beck samply sort of way.

I can see that, for sure. There's a Ted Baker coat that my husband is lusting after that would go quite well with the fedora and brat pack sensibility, plus a dash o' pimp style....

I can't find a picture, but it's ivory velvet, cut like a suit jacket, with HUGE PURPLE PEONIES all over it. ;)
